Vogogna

I had to be ready to get this picture, I took it from the train on the way back to Geneva. I had spotted this scene last fall on the same train ride back from a conference, but that time I didn't know it was coming. It's best I can do with the window glare and such. I know your not supposed to take "good" pictures from moving vehicles, but I think the view is kind of unique from this spot, and the only way I would get it otherwise is to stand on the train tracks, and this is a pretty busy rail line, about to head under the Simplon pass. What I'm trying to say is that this is probably the best I'm going to get.

Some things I saw in the woods

I've decided to embrace the lack of color in the region and season, and work on some black and white pictures.

The light has been really spectacular the last couple of days. I guess it's getting to be spring time. I'll go for another walk tonight, probably in the same woods to see what I see. These were all at 35mm focal length (on a DX/crop body), today I'll try with my other lens, a zoom, but at 24mm.

These are all LR4 (not beta) conversions. I'm looking at Nik Silver Efex Pro 2, but right now it doesn't agree with LR4, too new I guess. When they are cooperating I'll give the trial another go.

Did a tour around the area, running errands and such.  Hit the dechetterie (recycling), stopped at the Mekong Market and got some of the excellent tofu that they make and sell.  Finally, stopped by the Ferney-Voltaire pool, and found a paper on the admission price.  Why (oh why!) can't this just be listed on the web site?

There may not be too much text at times, but I needed something a bit more organized than my flickr stream, which is, well, rather like a stream.  Stuff just kind floats by, all jostled and jumbled by the current of what's happening now and then.
